Zero to one tropical cyclone is expected in February as the northeast monsoon or “amihan” usually reaches its peak this month.
The tail-end of cold front and northeast monsoon will be the prevailing weather systems on the first day of February, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration.
Camiguin, Misamis Oriental, Bukidnon, Agusan del Norte, Agusan del Sur, Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur, Dinagat Islands, Compostela Valley, Davao del Norte, Davao Oriental, Davao del Sur, and Davao Occidental will have cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and isolated thunderstorms due to the tail-end of cold front.
The low-pressure area, whose trough or extension brought some rains over parts of Mindanao in the past few days, has dissipated.
But PAGASA warned residents in Mindanao to continue to take extra precaution against possible flash floods or landslides due to scattered light to moderate to at times heavy rains triggered by the tail-end of cold front.
The amihan will bring cloudy skies with light rains over Northern Samar, Eastern Samar, Aurora, Quezon, Batanes, Cagayan, Isabela, Nueva Vizcaya, Quirino, Abra, Benguet, Ifugao, Kalinga, Mountain Province, Apayao, Albay, Catanduanes, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Sorsogon, and Masbate.
Metro Manila and the rest of the country will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains from the amihan. (Ellalyn V. Ruiz)
