A survey showing public optimism about the quality of life and the economy indicated that the President Duterte was winning the hearts and minds of the people and proving his critics wrong, Malacañang observed yesterday.
Presidential spokesperson Salvador Panelo said they welcome the latest survey results and vowed to remain steadfast in attaining the inclusive growth in the country.
“It is therefore not surprising that President Rodrigo Roa Duterte continues to win the hearts and minds of the Filipino people as he enters the midpoint of his six-year presidential term,” he said.
“This is another repudiation against the skeptics, Left-leaning groups, militant Church members, and the political opposition, who ignore or refuse to heed the people’s voice and see nothing good in the President’s tireless efforts to improve and bring about genuine and positive change to the nation,” he added.
In a Social Weather Stations survey conducted last December, 37 percent of the respondents claimed their lives improved in the past year, compared to the 28 percent in September 2018.
The survey also found out that 45 percent expected their quality of life to improve in the next 12 months while 43 percent were optimistic about the growth of the economy in 2019.
According to Panelo, the survey results validated previous research studies showing “a decline in hunger, a decrease among Filipino families who consider themselves as ‘mahirap,’ and an overwhelming number of Filipinos entering 2019 with hope.” (Genalyn Kabiling)
