A HOUSEMAID ended up in jail after she lost her employer’s money and assorted jewelries to a member of “dugo-dugo” gang in front of Manila City Hall last Sunday.
Luisa Carandang, 42, of Puerto Prinsesa City, is facing a qualified theft case filed by her 62-year-old employer, Carolina Tabisora.
Investigation revealed that the suspect received a telephone call from unknown person in the afternoon of Feb. 3, informing her that her employer figured in a vehicular accident.
She was then instructed to get money from the cabinet and bring it to Manila City Hall.
Carandang arrived at the place and met a certain alias “Pineda”, about 25 to 30 years old, 4’11” to 5’2” tall, medium built, and clad in pink blouse and black pants.
Thereafter, she turned over to “Pineda” P12, 000 cash placed in a small wallet and a black pouch containing assorted jewelries with an estimated value of at least P700, 000.
Police Officer 1 Paul Valencia, investigator on case, reminded the public, especially the house helpers, to refrain from entertaining calls from people they do not know.
“Sa dugo-dugo gang, kawawa talaga mga katulong diyan kasi tawag lang sa phone na nadisgrasya amo nila, kunin ‘yung ganyan, which is sinusunod lang nila. Wala silang intent to gain pero sila nag-commit ng crime kaya napupunta sila sa qualified theft,” he said. (Ria Fernandez)
