COMEDIAN Bentong died yesterday at the age of 55.
Son-in-law, Arvin Vincent Anierdes, announced his passing on Facebook, saying he died at around 5 a.m. in Fairview General Hospital following a cardiac arrest.
“Rest in peace, Papa Bentong.
Bentong, real name Domingo Vusotros Brotamante Jr., started his showbiz career as production assistant at ABS-CBN.
It was TV host Willie Revillame who gave him a break on the now defunct “Wowowee.” host while preparing coffee on set.
Bentong went on to appear in a number of films and TV series.
The comedian revealed his battle with diabetes in 2016, relating how he continues to work hard despite his illness just to make sure he gives his children a good future.
He is survived by his wife Cecil Bernal and their children. (NEIL RAMOS)
