A Pasay City police precinct commander and four of his men were sacked from their posts for allegedly encouraging three women to settle the acts of lasciviousness case they filed against a 19-year-old foreigner who sexually harassed them inside a popular amusement park in Pasay last Feb. 7.
Director Guillermo Eleazar, chief of the National Capital Region Police Office, said the five policemen led by precinct commander Chief Insp. Remedios Terte clearly mishandled the case in favor of the foreigner.
“The five policemen is on a floating status and detailed at the Pasay City police station Holding Section while the case is being investigated,” said Eleazar.
Aside from Terte, also relieved were PO3 Archie Rodolfo, PO3 Ranier Dumanaca, SPO2 Jonathan Bayot, and SPO3 Timothy Mengote.
The case stemmed when the suspect, Chinese Zhang Yang, 19, billeted at Antel Tower, Pasay, allegedly touched the victims’ breasts while inside the Horror House of the amusement park.
Zhang was arrested by the security guards following a commotion and was turned over to the Pasay Cultural Center of the Philippines Police Community Precinct.
The victims and their mothers went to the precinct to file their complaints but policemen allegedly persuaded them to settle the case amicably.
“The police should never initiate a settlement or arrangement between parties. The job of a policeman is to file the necessary complaints by complainant with the Office of the City Prosecutor,” said Eleazar. (Aaron Recuenco)
