Five Filipino seafarers went missing on Monday after a Taiwan registered ship caught fire off Falkland Islands in the Atlantic Sea, the Philippine Embassy in London said.
Ambassador to the United Kingdom Antonio Lagdameo said the five Filipinos were among the 69 crew members onboard the Taiwanese fishing vessel at the time of the incident.
Lagdameo said the Philippine Embassy in the United Kingdom is still trying to get more information about the incident.
He assured that the Embassy is closely coordinating with relevant authorities and the manning agency of the Filipino seafarers and is ready to provide assistance.
The Department of Foreign Affairs remains hopeful that the five Filipino seafarers reported missing will be found. *(Roy Mabasa)
