The Bureau of Immigration (BI) is deporting an American and a Korean fugitives following their arrest by operatives from the bureau’s fugitive search unit (FSU).
BI Commissioner Jaime Morente said American Adrian Dean Eddings II, 44, an alleged rapist was arrested Feb. 13 in Lucena City, and the Korean Lee Yun Sung, 48, wanted drug trafficker, was apprehended the next day in Caloocan City.
Morente said Eddings is wanted by the court in Pawnee County, Oklahoma where he is facing first degree rape.
Morente said Lee is subject of arrest warrants issued by three different courts in Korea for alleged involvement in narcotics trafficking.
“His name is in the Interpol’s red notice list of international drug traffickers. He will be deported as his continued presence here poses a serious threat to public safety,” Morente said.
Citing information from the Korean embassy, FSU chief Bobby Raquepo said Lee allegedly smuggled several kilos of illegal drugs via air freights into Korea from the Philippines.
It was learned that Eddings fled to the Philippines only last Jan. 22, barely a few days after the Oklahoma court issued the warrant for his arrest.
On the other hand, Lee had hidden in the Philippines for more than 11 years and was on the BI’s wanted list since April last year when he was issued a summary deportation order. (Jun Ramirez)
