An optometrist was gunned down Wednesday afternoon by an unidentified man who pretended as his customer in Quiapo, Manila.
Police identified the victim as Carlos Lalaguna, 47, a resident of Road 2, Old Balara, Tandang Sora Avenue, Quezon City. He was declared dead on arrival at Jose Reyes Memorial Medical Hospital.
The gunman was described as around 40 to 45 years old, 5’6’’ tall, medium built, clad in black t-shirt, brown slippers, brown ballcap, black shorts and surgical mask.
Investigation showed the suspect pretended as a customer while waiting for his wife near the entrance of the optical clinic on Quezon Boulevard in Quiapo at around 4:30 p.m.
Few minutes after, the man shot Lalaguna while the latter was examining eyeglasses in the display cabinet.
Police said the suspect fled on foot towards Mendiola.
Recovered from the crime scene was one deformed fired bullet of unknown caliber.
Case investigator PO2 Julius Dela Cruz of the Manila Police District homicide section said they have yet to determine the motive behind the killing. (Erma Edera)
