PANGASINAN – Former Special Assistant to the President and aspiring senator Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go assured people in this province on Friday that he would create programs in education to enable the youth to become productive citizens.
“Asahan po ninyo na kabutihan ng mga kabataan po ang isa sa aking prayoridad at susi dito ang mga programa sa edukasyon na, kung mabibigyan ng pagkakataon, ay akin pong isusulong,” Go stated at the 50th founding anniversary of the Lyceum Northwestern University.
Go is an adopted son of the province via a resolution passed by the Sangguniang Panlalawigan and approved by Gov. Amado Espino III last Dec. 18.
Go spoke about the programs he has in store for education. He mentioned that a new government agency which focuses on private schools must be established to uplift the quality of education provided by such institutions.
“Plano ko po na magkaroon tayo ng Bureau of Private Schools para po mayroong ahensya ng gobyerno na nakatutok sa mga pribadong eskwelahan. Ito ay para mapanatili o mas maging maayos pa ang kalidad ng edukasyon na ibinibigay nila sa mga batang mag-aaral,” Go explained.
Go also mentioned that he would support the Duterte administration in providing increases to the salaries of teachers and other education professionals.
“Tungkol sa pag-increase ng suweldo ng mga guro, ipinangako po ito ni Pangulong Duterte na isusulong after salary standardization. Hopefully, sila naman po ang mabibigyan ng increase. Ako naman po, makakaasa po kayo na susuportahan ko po ito. About time na may mangyari nang ganito sa kanila,” Go said.
Go said he was honored by being invited to attend the 50th founding anniversary of Lyceum Northwestern University.
“Nakakataba po ng puso na maibitahan sa 50th anniversary ng unibersidad na ito. Marami po itong natulungan at naturuan na mag-aaral. It is my fervent wish na magpatuloy po ang unibersidad sa pagbibigay ng de kalidad na edukasyon sa mas marami pa pong Pilipino,” Go said.
“Asahan po ninyo, bilang adopted son ng Pangasinan, na susuportahan ko po ang Lyceum Northwestern University,” he added.
