Jeremy “The Jaguar” Miado rued the missed chance of continuing his upward trajectory in ONE Championship after dropping a second- round stoppagw loss to former ONE Strawweight World Champion Dejdamrong Sor Amnuaysirichoke at ONE: CALL TO GREATNESS last Friday, 22 February.
It was a disappointing night to say the least for the Marikina City resident as he failed to repeat his magical performance against the same foe last year, while also slowing his rise into the ONE strawweight division rankings
Disappointed as he was, Miado was quick to credit the former ONE Strawweight World Champion who weathered an early storm enrout to a sensational victory.
“I wasn’t shocked with how DSA performed because I know he really prepare for this bout,” he said.
“Even early on, he was really defensive, he was careful and protected himself quite well.”
Miado actually had a dream start, utilizing his speed to tag the two-division Lumpinee Stadium Muay Thai World Champion from different angles on the feet.
But the Filipino striker slowly faded as Dejdamrong started to pick his spots in the second round.
With Miado punching himself out, the Evolve MMA standout quickly took control and eventually ended the bout with unanswered knees to the head.
Miado admitted that he struggled with his weight, and it was pretty evident in the bout.
“What went wrong is that I struggled heavily with my weight, I failed to make the cut three times,” he admitted as the bout was eventually moved to a catchweight of 56.9 kilograms from the original 56.7 kilograms of the strawweight division
“Come fight night, I felt really weak, and that’ the reason why we fought at catchweight.”
Not one to make excuses, Miado vows to bounce back stronger than ever – while hoping to get a chance to complete a trilogy with Dejdamrong.
“Now it’s back to the drawing board. I will train really hard for my next opponent – whoever he is,” he stated.
“If I get the win, hopefully I get to fight DSA against to have that trilogy.”
