With two months to go before the May 13 midterm polls, the Commission on Elections yesterday issued a couple of reminders to voters.
Comelec spokesperson James Jimenez said voters should not over vote. “All the votes in the over voted position will be considered stray and will not be counted,” Comelec said.
He explained that the votes in other positions in the ballots will be counted as normal if they are not over votes.
Jimenez said voters should vote for 12 senators and one partylist group on the national level and one governor, 1 vice governor, Sangguniang Panlalawigan members, one mayor, and one vice-mayor, among others.
But he said abstain vote is allowed as well as under vote. “Allowed ang abstain,” said Jimenez.
“Under vote is also allowed. For example you will vote for one senator only instead of 12,” he added.
He urged voters to fully shade the oval in the ballot. “One hundred percent shading of the oval is recommended but the machine will also accept at least 25 percent shading,” Jimenez said.
He said voters should not take a “selfie” of their ballot especially if it is already filled up. (Leslie Ann G. Aquino)
