A human torso was found on Mindanao Ave. Extension in Mapulang Lupa, Valenzuela City, Wednesday noon.
A security guard told the police that he was at his post at about 12:30 p.m. when bystanders informed him of a suspicious-looking sack about 200 meters away.
After seeing that the sack contained a torso, the witness immediately called for police assistance.
Police probers said the torso was in the early stage of decomposition when found.
On Monday night, a human head was found inside a plastic bag at Barangay 174, Camarin, Caloocan City.
A medico-legal expert from the Northern Police District-Scene of the Crime Operatives (NPD-SOCO) said the wounds on the head were still fresh when it was found.
The NPD-SOCO will be conducting a DNA examination to see if the head matches the torso, investigators said.
The torso was brought to Candido Funeral Homes in Valenzuela City and the head to Jade Funeral Homes in Caloocan City for examination.
