Noel Micheal Kampton and Hero Austria of Perpetual Help Junior Altas captured the NCAA juniors beach volleyball title held recently at Sand SM by the Bay in Seaside Boulevard, Mall of Asia, Pasay City.
Mentored by Sandy Rieta and Jason Sapin, the Altalettes outlasted John Paolo Lorenzo and Christian Dela Cruz of Letran, 19-21, 21-12, 15-7, to give Perpetual its first title in seven years and third overall since the inception of the event in 2007.
The title win enabled Perpetual to tie Emilio Aguinaldo College- Immaculate Conception Academy (ICA) -Dasmariñas for the most number of titles.
It was a double celebration for Kampton who was named MVP of the tournament.
Kampton was also the instrumental in the school’s Drive for Five in the indoor competition.
Meantime, San Beda University and Emilio Aguinaldo College topped the women’s and men’s title by downing their respective rivals.
San Beda twins Ella and Nieza Viray retained their title by downing Perpetual’s Dana Persa and Deana Estanislao, 21-11, 21-15, in the finals to claim their second straight crown.
Joshua Pitogo and Joshua Mina likewise captured a second straight men’s crown after turning back Perpetual’s Gilbert Ghill Balmores and Jay Jay Solamillo in a nail-biting 21-19, 17-21, 15-13 win.
