The Department of Health has advised the public to take extra precautions against the threat of heat stroke as the summer season approaches.
“Heat stroke. Heat exhaustion. These are already possible,” said Health Secretary Francisco Duque III.
Duque said that children and the elderly are vulnerable to dehydration.
“The older ones and the babies and children, they are the ones that easily get dehydrated,” he said.
The Health chief advised the public to drink plenty of water to avoid dehydration.
“If we have elderlies or infants at home, we should make them drink plenty of water since they are the ones that easily get dehydrated,” said Duque.
He also advised the public to limit the time they spend outdoors, particularly around 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., when the temperature is at its peak.
“Avoid being under the Sun from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. It’s bad for the body to be exposed during those times,” he said. (Analou de Vera)
