Kaya-Iloilo looks to score a win on its home debut away from home against Singapore’s Home United today in the AFC Cup at the Panaad Stadium in Bacolod City.
Denied of a full three points after being held to a 1-1 draw by Lao Toyota in its opening assignment, Kaya is determined to redeem itself in the 3 p.m. match against the reigning ASEAN Zonal champions.
The inaugural winner of the Copa Paulino Alcantara was forced to play its AFC Cup home matches in Bacolod due to the failure of the Iloilo City Sports Complex to meet the tournament’s stringent stadium requirements.
Regardless, Kaya is eager to get into the win column in order to boost its quest to top Group H.
Coach Noel Marcaida’s Kaya almost sneaked out a victory in Vientiane when Joven Bedic struck the opener inside 20 minutes, only to see Lao Toyota produce an equalizer before stoppage time.
