A two-day sports and cultural festival will be held in June to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the Philippine-Korea Diplomatic Relations.
The Korean Embassy, along with the United Korean Community Association, will be on hand in staging the event slated June 8 and 9 where sports activities in football, baseball, taekwondo and marathon, to name a few will be held.
South Korean Ambassador to the Philippines Han Dong-Man and PSC chairman Butch Ramirez also welcomed the idea of hosting a friendly basketball match between the two countries.
“We will talk to Shin Dong-pa about this. It’s a good opportunity,” said Han in a press briefing yesterday, adding it would also be a pleasure if pound-for-pound boxer and Senator Manny Pacquiao can also attend.
Cultural acts showing the PH-Korea relations and a parade at the Quirino Grandstand will also be staged.
Ramirez said it is fitting to celebrate this partnership as Korea has been helping the country strengthen its sports programs for the past years through the Korea Institute of Sports Science.
