The Philippine Embassy in New Zealand on Friday urged the almost 5,000 members of the Filipino community in Christchurch to remain indoors due to unfolding multiple shooting incidents in mosques, leaving a still undetermined number of casualties.
Philippine Ambassador to New Zealand Gary Domingo is now in close coordination with the Philippine Honorary Consulate in Christchurch as well as with leaders of the Filipino community.
The New Zealand government also advised the people of Christchurch to remain in lockdown.
Authorities in Christchurch have yet to confirm the number of dead or injured.
The Philippine government through the Department of Foreign Affairs, meanwhile, conveyed its solidarity following the tragic incident. (Roy Mabasa)
