Water is now available to majority of barangays in Mandaluyong City, a local official said yesterday.
“Majority ng mga barangays in Mandaluyong ay meron ng tubig,” said Jimmy Isidro, city public information office chief. “Mga two or three barangays na lang ang wala talaga pero ang iba meron na. Pero mahina pa rin,” Isidro added.
The local official also said that they are now conducting an inventory to identify the barangays still experiencing low pressure to no water supply.
For more than a week, Mandaluyong City is one of the areas in the eastern metro hit the hardest by the water shortage, with all of its 27 barangays affected.
Residents scramble to source out their water. Most wait in line for trucks delivering the water rations even during in the early hours. Some desperate residents even fetched their water from public swimming pools.
The city officials last week considered declaring a state of calamity in the city to address the prevailing water woes due to insufficient supply of water coming from La Mesa Dam.
But due to the recent developments, local officials placed the declaration on hold, Isidro said.
“Baka hindi na ituloy kasi meron na namang tubig,” he said. (Aldrin Casinas)
