A 22-year-old lineman was killed by a 14-year-old boy with a shotgun in Tondo, Manila, Saturday night
Reconiel Cruz was gunned down at the corner of OsmeƱa and Pacheco Streets at 10:30 p.m. on March 16, police reported.
According to Police Officer 2 Mark Daniel de Guzman, officer on case of Manila Police District (MPD) homicide section, said the teenage boy was in a melee with an unidentified group when the mother of the victim stumbled while trying to stop them.
When the victim learned about the incident, he immediately confronted and hit the suspect.
The suspect then rushed to a motorcycle and was seen making calls through his cellphone.
Moments later, he returned on board a motorcycle driven by his cohort identified as Johnren Aguilar Pineda, 18, dishwasher. He alighted from the motorcycle and fired shots at Cruz using a shotgun.
Another accomplice identified as Elaine Ambrosio Zamora, 19, who was riding a black Yamaha Mio motorcycle, picked up the suspect and fled toward Pacheco Street.
Concerned citizens chased them but they were only able to collar Zamora.
The victim, who sustained multiple wounds mostly in the chest, was brought to Mary Johnston Hospital but was declared dead on arrival at 11:39 p.m.
