Not all current senators deserve a seat in the Senate as far as President Duterte is concerned.
The President said there’s “a lot” of senators who should not be in power for reasons, including their lack of intellect and penchant for endless criticisms.
Duterte took a swipe at some senators as he rallied support for his senatorial candidates during the PDP-Laban campaign rally in Marikina City Wednesday.
“Diyan sa Senado, I could only – kasi focused tayo sa Senate eh, there are a lot of those there who should not be there,” Duterte said. “Ang personality, then he was supported by – walang ginawa except to criticize para lang masabi ni la mas marunong sila at may alam sila,” he added.
Duterte also expressed dismay with a lady senator who was supposedly a dull-witted and noisy critic. “There is one lady who is eternally sarcastic. Wala namang utak,” he said, without identifying the person.
“Every time she talks, she does not consult a lawyer, she commits blunder all the way. Parang nagmakamarunong na aktibista na wala namang laman at walang ginawa. Iyong mga ganun, maingay,” he added.
Reelectionist Sen. Bam Aquino and Sen. Antonio F. Trillanes IV were later identified by the President during his tirade against alleged inept public servants.
“Bam Aquino, except for the namesake sa surname, anong…? Sige lang presscon,” Duterte said.
On Trillanes, he said the former rebel soldier tried to appear “smart aleck” but was supposedly a coward when he surrendered to authorities after launching a mutiny.
Meanwhile, opposition Rep. Tom Villarin needs divine intervention to help him get over a lot of “personal turmoil,” according to Hugpong ng Pagbabago chairperson and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte.
After two weeks of ignoring a series of criticisms hurled her way in order not to get into another verbal tussle with the opposition, Duterte spewed sarcasm at Villarin who had accused her of “sabotaging” the chances of HNP senatorial candidates by engaging the Otso Diretso bets in a verbal skirmish.
An outspoken critic of President Duterte, Villarin also chided the HNP chief for allegedly upstaging the senatorial candidates she is supposed to be supporting.
Asked by newsmen to respond to Villarin’s claims, Duterte hesitated for a while before responding to the opposition solon’s attack.
“I feel na dapat siya i-bless ng Diyos. Madami pang personal turmoil na nangyayari sa kanya, pag-uugali na kailangan i-bless ng Diyos,” she stated.
This is the first time the feisty Davao City mayor responded to the opposition’s unabated tirade in nearly two weeks when her mother, Elizabeth Zimmerman, reminded her to avoid arguing with the opposition. (Genalyn Kabiling and Ben R. Rosario)
