ILAGAN, Isabela – Micaela Jasmine Mojdeh of Parañaque City and Aubrey Tom of Cainta, Rizal continued their dominating show in swimming while Erica Marie Ruto of Calamba City and Juntine Angelo Muñoz of Pangasinan topped the centerpiece 100-meter contest in the 2019 Batang Pinoy Luzon leg championships at the City of Ilagan Sports Complex here.
Ruto, a gold medalist at last year’s Palarong Pambansa in Ilocos Sur, topped the girls’ century dash by clocking 12.60sec to edge out Laguna’s Kyla Elona (12.80sec) and Ilagan City’s Reah Bacani (12.90sec) while Muñoz timed 11.20sec in beating Pasig City’s John Dave Magtangob (11.40sec) and San Fernando, Pampanga’s Franz Michael Matos (11.76sec).
Mojdeh, a national junior record holder, clocked 2 minutes and 25.74 seconds to reign supreme in the 13-15 girls 200-meter butterfly that capped another overpowering show.
Her earlier victories came in the 200m individual medley (2:35.91) and 400m IM (5:25.30) on Tuesday, as well as the 100m fly (1:06.30) and 50m fly (30.44sec) on Wednesday.
Mojdeh admitted she didn’t get the desired times on her events but vowed to do better in next month’s Palarong Pambansa in Davao City where she will face similar opponents.
“Sa Palaro ko na lang yun gagawin,” Mojdeh said, adding that she and her rivals are expected to prepare hard for the annual summer event.
