The executive secretary of former Makati mayor Junjun Binay was shot by a motorcycle-riding gunman in front of her house in Makati City Thursday night.
Makati police said 44-year-old Monaliza Bernardo sustained gunshot wounds in the right hand and stomach.
Investigation showed that Bernardo had just come from work and was parking her car at her house in Barangay Olympia, Makati, at around 8 p.m. when she was shot by one of two motorcycle-riding men.
The suspects immediately fled while the victim was rushed to the Makati Medical Center.
Witnesses said the gunman has a medium built, clad in a blue shirt, denim pants, and a black helmet. His companion was wearing a yellow polo-shirt and a black helmet.
Two witnesses said they saw the suspects waiting in front a nearby apartment in the barangay prior to the shooting.
Mayor Abigail Binay has ordered Makati police to thoroughly probe the shooting incident, saying she will not allow anyone destroy the peacefulness of Makati City.
(Jel Santos)
