Rio Olympics silver medalist Hidilyn Diaz of weightlifting, Jakarta Asian Games gold medalists Yuka Saso of golf and Margielyn Didal of skateboarding lead the newest batch of Filipino athletes now under the Olympic Solidarity Movement, the Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) said.
Aside from Diaz, Saso and Didal, others who are under the program include taekwondo’s PaulineLopez and Rheza Aragon, shooting’s Amparo Acuna and Jayson Valdez, gymnast Carlos Yulo, archer Nicole Tagle and table tennis’s Joan Nayre.
POC secretary general Patrick Gregorio said the 10 will receive $500 apiece to help them train for the inclusion to the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
POC General Manager Art Aro said the POC will take care of the liquidation report of these chosen athletes that will be forwarded to the International Olympic Committee (IOC).
“They can use it as part of their preparation not just for the Tokyo Olympics but beyond,” said Aro, noting that these athletes can use it to buy supplements to help them in training.
