By this time, Kevin “The Silencer” Belingon and Bibiano “The Flash” Fernandes should be familiar with each other.
However, Belingon insists there are some new techniques in his bag of tricks.
Expect a few surprises from the ONE Bantamweight World Champion when his rivalry with the longtime division king reaches its climax at ONE: A NEW ERA from the Ryogoku Kokugikan in Tokyo, Japan on Sunday, 31 March.
“This time, there will be more surprises for Bibiano. I hope I can implement those and get the win in Japan,” he said.
“If the opportunity to knock him out comes, I will take it and not let it slip away again.”
Belingon and Fernandes first clashed at ONE: DYNASTY OF CHAMPIONS (HEFEI) in January 2016 where he lost via submission in the first round.
The 31-year-old Team Lakay standout avenged that loss when he hacked out a split decision win at ONE: HEART OF THE LION four months ago.
While ideally, a striking battle would favor the power puncher in Belingon, the pride of Baguio City said that he has no problems rolling with the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt.
“I will try to keep the fight standing up,” Belingon revealed. “But if we go to the ground, I will not hesitate to grapple with him and submit him.”
Knowing there were doubts regarding his last win over Fernandes, “The Silencer” is working round the clock to make sure he delivers a convincing performance should the bout go to the judges’ scorecards.
“In the event that the fight goes to the judges again, this time I will make sure that it’s going to be a landslide decision in my favor,” he declared.
