A 49-year-old woman was killed while his 19-year-old son was injured when a man onboard a motorcycle allegedly shot them while they were riding a tricycle in Tondo, Manila early yesterday morning.
Police identified the fatality and the injured as Merly and Christian Rabanera.
Police Staff Sgt. Lester Evangelista of the Manila Police District-Homicide Section said that prior to the incident, the suspect was seen pacing back and forth around Merly’s house.
Evangelista said that when the gunman saw the Rabaneras riding a tricycle on Rizal Ave. corner Bulacan St., the suspect shot Merly in the head, killing her on the spot.
Christian was hit by a stray bullet as he tried to escape from the tricycle. He was taken to the Jose Reyes Memorial Medical Center in Manila.
Recovered from the crime scene were three fired cartridges of a .45 caliber pistol.
Evangelista described the suspect as 25- to 30-years-old and clad in white T-shirt and black short pants.
Follow-up investigation is now under way to apprehend the suspect and determine the motive behind the killing. (Erma Edera)
