Thousands of young boys and girls bid to earn “yellow belts” in the 2019 SMART/MVPSF Taekwondo summer classes which are going on in Philippine Taekwondo Association affiliates all over the country.
A former world champion, Makati Congressman and PTA secretary general Monsour del Rosario says the participants will undergo examinations after the two-month classes in all regions to determine if they qualify for the yellow belts.
Veteran instructors teach the participants the different forms and techniques of taekwondo, considered as the country’s leading martial art.
New students will be shown the modern electronic system used by the World Taekwondo Federation in the Olympics, Asian Games and Southeast Asian Games. Called the Protective Scoring System (PSS) and Electronic Scoring System (ESS), the technology makes the students understand that everything is done under accurate and fair scoring.
Taekwondo, according to Del Rosario, is the best exercise for physical conditioning, alertness and self-protection against all odds.
