BANGUED, Abra – Tension briefly occurred in this capital town last Monday when Bangued mayoral bet Ryan S. Luna allegedly slapped three municipal employees in a voters’ education seminar in Barangay Bangbangar here.
Drexell Festejo Bermudez, 40; Rolly Benosa Bernardez, 46, and Jayrone Berra Bello, 32, complained that Luna arrived in the voters’ education seminar at the house of Barangay Bangbangar chairman Loreto Laureta and slapped them.
Police said Luna took the sling bag of Bello containing his cellular phone and left the area.
Police are now preparing an appropriate complaint at the prosecutor’s office against Luna, who is in the midst of his campaign.
Luna, of the administration party Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan, is a former mayor here and cousin of Abra gubernatorial bet and Dolores Mayor Robert Victor Seares Jr.
Luna is running against incumbent Mayor Dominic Valera of the National Unity Party-Asenso, father of Abra Gov. Ma. Jocelyn Bernos.
The Bangued mayoral bet is a son of former Abra Rep. Cecilia Seares-Luna and brother of Derdrei Roce Luna-Ifurung, who is running against incumbent Abra Rep. Joseph Sto. Nino Bernos, brother-in-law of Gov. Bernos. (Freddie Lazaro)
