A nun and a fire volunteer were injured in a fire that broke out in a convent in Quezon City yesterday.
The Quezon City Bureau of Fire Protection said 69-year-old Sister Bernadette Al Buquerque, an Indian national, sustained a first degree burn on her right upper forearm.
Fire volunteer Tommy de Leon, 30, sustained a laceration on his right hand.
The fire, that engulfed the convent of the Sisters of St. Anne on Dama de Noche St. in Barangay Mariana, started around 12:18 a.m.
It reached the second alarm minutes later at around 12:36 a.m. and at around 1:07 a.m., the blaze was declared fire out, the BFP said.
According to the BFP, the fire started on the second floor bedroom of the convent and spread to three nearby houses, affecting six families.
Arson investigators pegged the damage of the fire to around P100,000 while investigation is ongoing to determine its cause. (Jhon Aldrin Casinas)
