San Carlos, Negros Occidental Bishop Gerardo Alminaza has warned the faithful against a group whose teachings and beliefs are based on a book called The Book of Truth.
In a Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines News post, Alminaza said he never endorsed the group and the book authored by a woman who calls herself Maria Divine Mercy.
In a circular, the bishop warned the public not to believe in the contents of the book. “The message of Maria Divine Mercy is not to be taken seriously, discussed, or distributed within the Diocese of San Carlos,” he stressed.
Alminaza said the book contains some teachings that contradict the teachings of the Catholic faith.
Among others, the author asserts to have predicted Pope Benedict’s resignation ahead. She also claims that he will be the last pope on Earth, and that the next pontiff is a false prophet.
She added that the Second Coming is about to take place.
“Adherence to such teachings might lead to confusion and eventually being led astray to what our Magisterium upholds,” Alminaza warned. (Christina I. Hermoso)
