Go For Gold is organizing six races this year as part of its selection process to discover young but promising triathletes who can be the face of the sport in the future.
The top male and female triathletes after six races will be offered contracts to become members of the Team Go For Gold.
Jeremy Go, vice president for Marketing of Powerball Marketing and Logistics Corp, said participants will earn points each race.
“There is no shortcut toward success. But if your dream is to be part of Go For Gold Philippines, then this might be your time to shine,” said Go who is largely credited behind the successful Go For Gold program.
“This program aims to encourage more young individuals to pursue excellence through sports,” said Go during the press conference held at the Rudy Project at Uptown BGC in Taguig City the other day.
The first race will be held on April 28 with the Go For Gold Sunrise Sprint-Cebu, a, short distance race featuring a 750-meter open-water swim, 20-kilometer bike ride and 5km run.
This will be followed by the SBR PH Aquaman at Vermosa Sports Hub on May 19 and the SBR PH Duaman in Nuvali on June 16.
The event then shifts to Mindanao with the staging of the Sunrise Sprint in Davao City on July 7 before going North for the SBR PH-Triman Clark on July 28 and Sunrise Sprint in Subic on Nov. 4.
Points will be given for the Top 10 fastest times per gender in SBR race, while points can be accumulated for participants registered in the Open Category of Go For Gold Sunrise Sprint races.
“The program aims to encourage more young individuals to pursue excellence through sports,” said Go, who appeared in Tuesday’s press briefing in Taguig City with Sunrise Event’s Princess Galura and Swim-Bike-Run President Carlo De Guzman.
Winners will be announced on Nov. 4 and will be rewarded with a professional contract up to P100,000, a Storck bike and trophies.
Aside from the men’s triathlon team, Go For Gold is already backing national athletes from cycling, sepak takraw, chess, wrestling, dragonboat, and skateboarding.
