San Miguel Beer confirmed on Wednesday the return of Charles Rhodes as its import for the PBA Commissioner’s Cup which starts next month.
Team manager Gee Abanilla confirmed the signing of Rhodes, who two years ago led the Beermen to the Commissioner’s Cup title while winning the Best Import honors.
Rhodes is coming off a stint in South Korea where his team Incheon Electroland Elephants lost to his former club Ulsan Mobis Phoebus in the recent Korean Basketball League Finals.
The Beermen are hoping that Rhodes will provide the needed support in their bid to regain the crown in the midseason tournament.
SMB was dethroned last season by Barangay Ginebra San Miguel with Renaldo Balkman serving as reinforcement.
Speculations of Balkman suiting up for the Beermen surfaced weeks ago when he attended the first two games of the team’s ongoing PBA Philippine Cup semifinal series against the Phoenix Pulse Fuel Masters.
