An alleged notorious drug peddler was killed while his 11 companions were arrested and P1.2-million worth of suspected shabu and marijuana were seized following an encounter with police in Quezon City the other day.
Police Lt. Col. Rossel Cejas, chief of the Quezon City Police Station 4 (Novaliches), said they received information on the illegal activities of three notorious drug pushers in Novaliches identified as a certain “Bilao,” Waida Silongan, 42, and Baimen Sarip, 21.
Lawmen applied for search warrants against the suspects which were issued by Judge Rosanna Fe Romero-Maglaya of the Quezon City Regional Trial Court Branch 88 for violation of Republic Act No. 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Police served the three search warrants at the house of the suspects in Barangay Gulod around 4:10 p.m.
However, instead of heeding the warrants, Bilao suddenly pulled out his handgun and fired at the policemen who retaliated and killed him on the spot.
A search was conducted and authorities were able to recover inside the house 150 grams of suspected shabu with an estimated street value of P1 million, two kilos of dried marijuana leaves amounting to P240,000, and some drug paraphernalia.
Police also seized a caliber .38 revolver without serial number and ammunition in the house.
Eleven persons, including Silongan and Sarip and two female minors, were nabbed during the search.
One of their cohorts identified as Maranao Sela was able to escape during the search and is now being hunted by the police.
Those arrested are now under police custody and were charged with violation of RA 9165 while the minors were turned over to City Social Services and Development Department for proper program intervention. (Alexandria San Juan)
