A PAIN so deep it pierces your heart, a loneliness so intense you wonder how you can bear it. Relax! You already went through so much. What else can you not overcome?
Every hardship sort of makes us weak, but at the same time, it gives us strength. It’s easy to forget the good when there are setbacks. We tend to forget the small successes. Remember the things that you were able to overcome. You are closer to your goals than you were before. Someone said, “You’re a fighter. Look at everything you’ve overcome. “Don’t give up now”.
Don’t get swayed when life knocks you down. You can always rise and begin again. Another break up, a new financial blow, a different challenge? Allow me to repeat: Relax! You already went through so much. What else can you not overcome?
Keeping calm amidst difficulties can make you look at your situation from a different angle and help you figure out how to deal with it. What strategies worked and what habits need to be stopped? What can you do to cushion the impact of your present condition?
Here’s a poem from John Greenleaf Whittier, “Don’t Quit”.
When things go wrong as they sometimes will,
When the road you’re trudging seems all up hill,
When the funds are low and the debts are high
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit,
Rest if you must, but don’t you quit.
Life is strange with its twists and turns
As every one of us sometimes learns
And many a failure comes about
When he might have won had he stuck it out;
Don’t give up though the pace seems slow –
You may succeed with another blow.
Success is failure turned inside out –
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt,
And you never can tell just how close you are,
It may be near when it seems so far;
So stick to the fight when you’re hardest hit –
It’s when things seem worst that you must not quit.
