For 14 months, Richard “Notorious” Corminal patiently waited for a chance at redemption in ONE Championship.
Corminal achieved his dream when he joined the world’s largest martial arts organization in 2017, but he has tasted defeat in all three of his promotional match-ups.
Now, more than a year away from competition, he will finally get the chance to redeem himself.
The Malaysia-based Filipino is scheduled to square off against Rahul “The Kerala Krusher” Raju in a three-round lightweight bout at ONE: ENTER THE DRAGON, which takes place at the Singapore Indoor Stadium on Friday, 17 May.
“I am really excited,” the 37-year-old stated.
“This is my first match this year, and I want to showcase everything that I worked hard for and sacrificed for throughout the year.”
Corminal knows winning is easier said than done, especially considering the challenge “The Kerala Krusher” presents.
Like him, the Singapore-based Indian is also hungry for a win after likewise dropping his three matches in the world’s largest martial arts organization.
Their careers parallel to each other. Fate has brought them together, and now they’re set for the bout of their lives.
“Rahul is a very good martial artist,” Corminal explained. “He’s well-rounded, and that’s why we’ve been preparing heavily because we know he’s no slouch.”
Corminal assures that he certainly learned a lot from his previous losses to Shannon Wiratchai, Arnaud Lepont, and Garry Tonon, and he hopes to showcase that in his upcoming showdown.
“I have learned a lot in those losses. I know I have to work extra hard and be more determined so I can further improve,” he said. “I will do everything to get that win in Singapore.”
