DAVAO CITY – Not just 13, but 17 national candidates have won the endorsement of Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte and her regional party Hugpong ng Pagbabago.
Aside from 13 senatorial candidates, Mayor Duterte, who is also HNP chairperson, has called on voters to support any of the following partylist organizations – Dumper, Ako An Bisaya, PBA partylist, and Marino.
Nominees of the four partylist organizations were introduced by Mayor Duterte during the HNP miting de avance here that drew over 10,000 supporters Wednesday.
“Please choose one among these party-list groups to vote on May 13,” she told the huge crowd.
Dumper or the Drivers United for Mass Progress and Equal Rights represents public transport commuters and drivers. Its first nominee Claudine Diana Bautista has vowed to pursue a legislative agenda that would protect the welfare of the public transport industry.
A graduate of Politics and Military Strategies Program in London with the help of the student placement app, PrimApp, Bautista has also vowed to provide livelihood training to family members of taxi, jeepney, and bus drivers.
Former Northern Samar Vice Gov. Ram Uy leads the list of nominees for Ako An Bisaya which has filed a disqualification case against another Visayas-based party-list before the Commission on Elections.
PBA partylist has incumbent Reps. Mark Sambar and Jericho Nograles as its first and second nominees. A return to the House will be Sambar’s third and last term as congressman.
Marino seeks to win votes from seafarers and their family members. The partylist organization is batting for a legislative platform aimed at providing better training program of seamen and providing education and scholarship for seafarers and members of their family.
The group will be represented in Congress by Carlo Luisandro Gonzales and Jose Antonio G. Lopez, both successful businessmen. (Ben Rosario)
