BACOLOD CITY – Three persons were killed while eight others were injured after a tricycle collided with a truck at Barangay Talaban, Himamaylan City, Negros Occidental Thursday.
Killed were tricycle driver Kevin Jade Montaño, 23, and his passengers – Faith Joy Hontiveros, 15, and Joshua Valdez.
Wounded were Jerick Orbeña, 18, Robert Porras, 19, and four minors aged 14 to 17, who were all riding a tricycle.
Also wounded were Roy Daguia, 40; and Danny Boy Sanny, 20, both residents of Bacolod City, who were both riding a truck driven by Dario Pontino, 34, of Murcia town.
Police Lt. Col. Glen Provido, city police chief, said the tricycle was tailing a truck when it allegedly overtook the vehicle and collided with another truck on the opposite lane.
The tricycle lost control over the vehicle which caused the collision, he added.
The passengers of the tricycle were on their way home when the accident happened.
All victims sustained injuries and were brought to the hospital.
Hontiveros and Valdez were declared dead upon arrival at a hospital while Montaño expired the following day.
