The HIV Gaming, Engaging, and Testing (HIV G.E.T.) Project of the University of the Philippines-Manila, which developed a mobile gaming application called “Battle in the Blood (BitB),” has been nominated to the 2nd Ripple Awards as “Project of the Year.”
This PCHRD-DOST funded project, led by Dr. Emmanuel S. Baja, a DOST Balik-Scientist from Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, is one of five (5) finalists at this year’s charity event organized by Love Gala.
This year’s gala will honor individuals, organizations and a project which made significant contribution in making people’s lives better, particularly those that are at risk for HIV and those that are HIV-positive.
Highlighting the great cause of BitB in its encouragement to at risk population to get tested for HIV and other sexually transmitted diseases, the effort was not ignored, as it became one of the 5 finalists from numerous submissions.
The game, which features eight different stories of people living with HIV across all 90 levels, trended worldwide twice in Google Play. It is still available for freely for iPhone users.
With its theme “Courage Amplified”, this year’s Love Gala will feature Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach and Concert King Martin Nievera.
The event will also be graced by Katrina Velarde, Zeus Collins, Gerald Santos, Paolo Ballesteros, Kaladkaren, Iyah Mina, Jeffrey Hidalgo, BJ Pascual, DJ Chacha, Laarni Lozada, Hashtag CK, and many more.
The awarding ceremony is slated tonight, 7 p.m. at ABS-CBN Vertis North, Quezon City.
