Kaya-Iloilo’s chances of making the knockout rounds came to a painful end Tuesday when it suffered a 2-0 defeat to Home United in its final group stage match in the AFC Cup at the Jalan Besar Stadium in Singapore.
Kaya entered the match needing a win to stay contention for a spot in the ASEAN Zonal semis only to see Home United take the lead on Adam Swandi’s opener just 13 seconds after kickoff.
Home United doubled its lead in the 18th minute courtesy of Abdil Qaiyyim Mutalib, leaving Kaya trying desperately to mount a comeback but to no avail.
