Vice Mayor-elect Gian Sotto has vowed to focus on the anti-drug campaign and intensity the drug prevention program in Quezon City his three-year term.
“Sa pagiging vice mayor ko, one of the programs na ipagpapatuloy namin ay yung drug clearing programs kung saan ay nagkaroon na po tayo ng 40 drug clearing programs out of 142. Ang goal natin ay mairesume natin ang operation sa drug clearing,” said Sotto, who is set to head the Anti-Drug Abuse Council as vice mayor.
Sotto said that he will also focus in strengthening the drug prevention program among families in Quezon City. “Kasama din sa batas na pinasa namin sa drug code is maasikaso din at matutukan yung hearing kaagad ng mga drug cases,” he said, adding that they will also be working to build additional detention facilities to curb overcrowded jails.
Sotto, an incumbent councilor, is optimistic that all of these will be implemented immediately during his term.
The son of Senate President Tito Sotto has been proclaimed with Quezon City Mayor-elect Vice Mayor Joy Belmonte.
