Police have taken into custody a 30-year-old mother who allegedly hacked her two children to death – one of them was beheaded – in a remote area in Sta. Cruz, Occidental Mindoro.
Lt. Col. Socrates Faltado, spokesperson of the Philippine National Police Region 4-A, said they are now conducting an investigation to confirm the report that the mother is suffering from mental illness.
“The mother and the children belong to the Alangan Mangyan tribe,” said Faltado.
Faltado said neighbors discovered the gruesome killing allegedly perpetrated by Dida Juliata Cabudyok inside their house in Sitio Landing, Barangay Pinagturilan last Friday.
Police arrived and saw the two children, aged one-year-old and eight-years-old, on the bed.
The one-year old boy was beheaded while his older sister’s head was almost decapitated as a result of hack wounds.
Faltado said the father of the children was not around when the incident happened.
He said two counts of parricide are being readied against Cabudyok.
“Allegedly, the mother is suffering from mental illness but we will leave proper authorities to confirm that,” said Faltado. (Aaron Recuenco)
