A day after surrendering, Peter Joemel Advincula, alias “Bikoy,” the man claiming to be the mysterious figure in the “Ang Totoong Narcolist” videos, was admitted yesterday to the Philippine National Police General Hospital in Camp Crame, Quezon City for high blood pressure.
Police Gen. Oscar Albayalde, PNP chief, said Advincula complained of dizziness early yesterday morning after his blood pressure reached 130/90, prompting doctors to monitor him.
“Based from the feedback that I got, his BP shot up and he said he was feeling dizzy so we admitted him to the hospital. Probably, he also needs rest,” Albayalde said. “The doctors are still evaluating if he may now be released,” he added.
Albayalde said that they are not giving special treatment to Advincula after he was admitted to the PNP hospital. “It’s risky to admit him outside. Why admit him at a different hospital and assign a security detail for him when we have our own facility?” the PNP chief said.
Whether or not Advincula gets permission to be released from the hospital, Albayalde said he will still remain under police custody because of the charges he is facing.
Advincula is facing charges for large-scale illegal recruitment and estafa. A Baguio City court had earlier issued an arrest warrant against him for illegal recruitment.
However, these cases are bailable and Advincula could walk out free from Camp Crame after he posts his bail.
Albayalde said Advincula has posted P18,000 in bail for his large-scale illegal recruitment charges. Advincula’s family was expected to post P1,000 bail for each of the five counts of estafa he is facing before the Quezon City Regional Trial Court on yesterday, Albayalde added.
“He’s a free man. We no longer have reason to hold him. If there’s a court order to release him, then we will release him,” he noted.
Advincula surrendered to police and was presented by Albayalde to the media after claiming that there were threats on his life and his family the other day.
Advincula was given a chance to talk where he recanted his earlier statements tagging President Duterte and his close family and allies to the illegal drug trade as stated in the viral “Ang Totoong Narcolist” videos.
He claimed it was all part of “Oplan: Sodoma” that was masterminded by opposition Sen. Antonio F. Trillanes IV and the Liberal Party to discredit the administration and boost the chances of the “Otso Diretso” senatorial slate in the last elections. (Martin Sadongdong)
