Another public school teacher aired through social media his complaint about a comfort room that has been converted into a faculty room in Tondo, Manila.
Danilo Acosta Lumabas, a Social Studies teacher at Felipe Calderon Integrated High School in Tondo uploaded a photo on Facebook showing his table in an old restroom turned into a faculty room. An old toilet bowl was placed under his desk.
“Oo. Table ko itong napanood ninyo sa TV.
Mula mismo sa sarili kong bulsa,” he added.
However, Lumabas said their situation was unjustifiable and the support of government in education was still not enough.
In an interview, Louie Zabala, faculty club president of Felipe Calderon Integrated High School, said the supposed comfort room was transformed into faculty room in 2007 because the original faculty room was already congested.
We asked the permission of our principal to occupy the CR dahil congested kami sa original faculty room namin. Pumayag naman siya,” Zabala bared.
Zabala also said they used their own money for the room to have a power line and aircon.
“Mahirap magtrabaho sa congested at masikip na space. It will remain as a faculty room, wala naman available space para pagdalhan sa amin,” Zabala added. (Erma Edera)
