Two men were killed in separate shooting incidents in Quezon City last Friday.
The Quezon City Police District identified the victims as Raymond Atienza, 43, and Manuel Toldanes, 46.
Police Lt. Col. Rossel Cejas, QCPD Station 4 chief, said Atienza was standing in front of a house on Sarmiento St. in Barangay Sta. Monica around 10 p.m. when a man approached him.
A brief commotion suddenly ensued between the two. Moments later, the suspect pulled out his handgun and repeatedly fired at the victim.
Atienza fell bloodied on the ground and eventually died while the gunman escaped.
According to the police, the motive behind the shooting is possibly drug-related. Atienza was detained at QCPD Station 4 in August last year for possession of illegal drugs.
QCPD Station 6 (Batasan) commander Lt. Col. Joel Villanueva said Toldanes, 46, was having a drinking session with his friend in front of his house on Riverview St., Barangay Batasan Hills at around 10 p.m. when two armed men appeared and shot the victim.
Toldanes died on the spot due to multiple bullet wounds while the suspects fled. (Alexandria San Juan)
