Grandmaster Darwin Laylo managed only a draw with Chinese International Master Xu Yi and dropped out of Top 20 after six rounds of the Asian Continental Chess Championships in Xingtai, China on Wednesday.
With the draw, Laylo slipped to a share of 21st to 28th places with 3.5 points in the 9-round tournament with Indian GM Murali Karthikeyan leading the way with 5.5 points following his win over compatriot GM Murali Karthikeyan.
GM John Paul Gomez and IM Paulo Bersamina, meanwhile, drubbed Indian GB Harshavardhan and Mongolian FIDE Master Ganzorig Amartuvshin for identical 3 points and a share of 29th place that include IM Jan Emmanuel Garcia.
Garcia split the point with India’s Gupta Sankalp.
