A barangay councilor was killed while a tricycle driver was wounded when armed men onboard a motorcycle shot them in Pasig City yesterday morning.
Police identified the fatality as Bobby Nazareth, a councilor of Barangay Sagad, Pasig.
Wounded was tricycle driver Larry Anto, 46, and is currently confined at the Pasig City General Hospital for a bullet wound in the back.
Initial investigation revealed that 43-year-old Nazareth, with band mates Ramon Balbastro Jr., 61, guitarist; and Anthony Salazar, 43, also a guitarist, were onboard a tricycle being driven by Anto on their way home after performing in a restaurant grill.
While on Mercedes Ave. in Barangay San Miguel at around 2:45 a.m., two men onboard a motorcycle approached the tricycle and opened fire at the victims.
The gunmen quickly fled.
Emergency personnel and members of Pasig Police Community Precinct 5 responded to the crime scene.
Nazareth was declared dead on the spot while Anto was rushed to the hospital. Balbastro and Salazar, on the other hand, were unharmed, police said. (Jhon Casinas)
