The Philippine National Police (PNP) yesterday launched an investigation into the killing of a former Cebu town mayor confined in a hospital in Medellin, Cebu.
“The killing of former Medellin, Cebu Mayor Ricardo Ramirez inside a hospital is now being investigated to identify the perpetrators and make them accountable before the law,” said Police Col. Bernard Banac, PNP spokesman.
Banac said Police Brig. Gen. Debold Sinas, regional director of the Central Visayas Police Regional Office (PRO-7), already directed the Medellin Municipal Police Station (MPS) and Cebu Provincial Police Office (PPO) to “conduct (an) immediate investigation to give justice to the victim and his family.”
“The PNP assures the public that the peace and order situation in Cebu is under control and our forces there remain vigilant to prevent occurrence of crimes,” he added. (Martin Sadongdong)
