The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration is monitoring a low-pressure area outside the country that may intensify into a tropical depression in the next few days.
PAGASA weather specialist Gener Quitlong said the LPA, which was estimated at 1,385 kilometers east-southeast of Mindanao yesterday morning, may enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility tomorrow.
The weather disturbance also has a chance of intensifying into a tropical depression.
Should it develop into a tropical cyclone inside the country’s vicinity, Quitlong said it will be given a local name “Dodong,” the first tropical cyclone this month and fourth this year.
Meanwhile, the anti-cyclone weather system – the ridge of high-pressure area – will still bring warm and humid weather conditions over Luzon today.
The rain-parched Angat Dam in Bulacan is approaching critical level. Its water level yesterday was further down to 160.73 meters from last Wednesday’s 161.30 meters and currently 0.73 meters short of its 160-meter critical level.
Angat Dam’s water level is seen to breach its crucial mark tomorrow as Metro Manila and the rest of the country are expected to have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with only some isolated rain showers or thunderstorms. (Ellalyn Ruiz)
