GENERAL SANTOS CITY – Kapa Community Ministry International Inc. founder Pastor Joel Apolinario has expressed hope that President Duterte will reconsider his decision to shut down Kapa Community Ministry amid allegations that the religious organization is involved in investment scam.
Apolinario told some 20,000 Kapa members who staged a prayer rally here Thursday to stay united and rally behind their leadership.
He denied charges Kapa is engaged in investment scam, saying they are soliciting donations from members to help other members of the religious organization.
Kapa legal counsel Riollen Gillesania also said the group is not engaged in investment scam as the act of donating money to the ministry is part of the religious activity being practiced by Kapa members.
The Securities and Exchange Commission has filed charges against Apolinario and other Kapa officials for violating the securities regulation code before the Department of Justice.
President Duterte has ordered the arrest of Apolinario for alleged involvement in investment scam by asking donations from members who, in return, receive a 30 percent share as “blessing.” (Joseph Jubelag)
