A Filipina household worker died after falling from a building while trying to escape from her employer in Morocco, the Department of Foreign Affairs said yesterday.
Quoting reports from the Philippine Embassy in Libya which has jurisdiction over Morocco, the Filipina died from injuries sustained after falling from the third floor apartment in Casablanca last Saturday.
It was reported that the victim had an argument with her employer and then tried to escape using pieces of garment she tied together.
Moroccan authorities had taken the employer into custody by authorities pending the outcome of the investigation they are conducting.
A consular team from the embassy in Tripoli has been dispatched to the Moroccan capital to coordinate with authorities and arrange for the repatriation of the victim.
The DFA did not immediately release the name and other circumstances of the dead Filipina worker pending the outcome of the probe and proper notification of next of kin. (Roy Mabasa)
