A fire broke out at the basement of the National Printing Office (NPO) in Quezon City on Monday night.
Col. Jaime Ramirez, Bureau of Fire Protection-Quezon City fire marshal, said the blaze started at the basement of the three-story building of the office located at the corner of EDSA and NPO Road in Barangay Pinyahan around 9:10 p.m.
First alarm was raised at 9:40 p.m. or at least 30 minutes after it broke out.
The fire lasted for more than an hour as authorities managed to control and put out the fire at 10:24 p.m.
No casualty was reported in the incident.
Fire probers have yet to determine the cause of the blaze as well as the estimated worth of damages.
Authorities are also checking if there are valuable items or documents that have been damaged by the fire.
The NPO is under the Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) mandated to print all government forms and public documents, including the Official Gazette of the Republic of the Philippines as election paraphernalia. (Alexandria San Juan)
